Ward 4 candidate's platform goes 'live', vows to continue 'suggestion box'

A candidate for Windsor City Council has made available his entire platform, and a place where people can add to it.

Ward 4 candidate Matt Marchand announced this week that his election platform, Love Our Hood, is now accessible online. Marchand gave credit to Ward 4 residents for helping him create it.

"At my campaign announcement in August, I promised that I would be talking to residents about their concerns, ideas, hopes, and aspirations, after which I would release my platform focused on safety, affordability, and livability," said Marchand in a media release. "I’m proud to say I’ve knocked on almost every door in the ward at this point and had the pleasure of talking to hundreds of people at the door, who provided feedback and concerns that I incorporated into my platform."

Marchand said residents are also bringing their ideas to him, with a Neighbourhood Idea Box installed outside his home on Monmouth Street. He has pledged to continue using it should voters choose him on Monday.

"The top issues identified through this are concerns about homelessness, mental health, and drugs," said Marchand. "The Neighbourhood Idea Box was very successful during the campaign, and I am committed to continuing this as City Councillor."

The race for the Ward 4 seat is wide open due to incumbent Chris Holt's campaign for mayor. The other seven candidates are Giovanni Abati, Edy Haddad, Gregory Heil, Mark McKenzie, Jake Rondot, Kristen Siapas, and Patrick Sutherland.

The election is Monday.
