Book publisher and festival receive grants

The Ontario government is supporting the literary scene in Windsor with multiple grants.

Biblioasis Publishing, located in Walkerville, received a $95,000 grant through the 2022 Book Fund Grant. The grant will be used to promote Canadian books published through the local literary press.

“The continuing support of Ontario Creates, and through them, the Ontario government, has been instrumental to Biblioasis’s growth and success over the past decade,” said publisher Dan Wells. “Resulting in millions of dollars in sales over this period and the publishing of many important stories, including numerous local and regional ones. We are grateful for this grant, which will be used to promote important Canadian books, and for their continued faith.”

The Ontario Arts Council is also supporting Bookfest/Festival du Livre 2022 Windsor with a $12,000 grant.

“For the past two decades, the volunteers behind Literary Arts Windsor & BookFest / Festival du Livre Windsor have been grateful recipients of funding from the Ontario Arts Council in order to bring the best authors from across the province to Windsor to share the love of reading,” said Sarah Jarvis, President, Literary Arts Windsor.
