This year's Migration Festival features new events for the family.
The annual festival celebrating the fall migration of birds in the region starts on Thursday, October 13 this year with the "Great Migration Paint Out," a four-day painting competition attracting artists from across the country. This year, two new categories have been added, the Children's Category and the Quick Paint Competition.
Opening Ceremonies are Friday, October 14 at Lion's Hall, starting at 6:30 p.m. At 7 p.m., residents are invited to watch "Fly Away Home," this year's Family Movie Night feature.
Both Lakeside Park and Lions Park will have activities for the kids on Saturday, October 15.
In Lakeside Park, bring your pets and kids for the Pet Parade. Participants are invited to decorate their bikes, strollers, and wagons. Registration starts at 9 a.m. at the cobblestone bridge, and spectators can gather in the lower bowl at 10 a.m.
There are also train rides, pony rides, face painting, demonstrations featuring birds of prey, and the second annual Kingsville Scouting Barbeque.
In Lions Park, the kids can take part in games, music and nature crafts. Kingsville Fire and Rescue will be there, and the "Nearly World Famous" Dufflebag Theatre presents "Robin Hood!"
The Kingsville Community Policing Committee will carve pumpkins on the front lawn of the OPP station from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Bike Windsor-Essex is hosting the Honkin' Round Town Bike Tour at 2 p.m. at the Carnegie.
On Saturday and Sunday, patrons can shop for unique gifts at the Migration Festival Marketplace in Lakeside Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Jack Miner Bird Sanctuary will host activities including a maze and a car show.
