"An experienced leader with a commitment to lifelong learning, you are able to manage the many challenges that police organizations face today," read the posting. "You excel at operations and support services, connecting all levels with the Service, including frontline staff to the WPS's mission and values. An exceptional communicator, you will work with the community, staff, the Association, and the board, to enhance the credibility of the Service."
"Located on the busiest international border crossing between Canada and the United States, Windsor-Essex is a vibrant city offering a southern climate, affordable and safe living, and beautiful views of the waterfront," the listing read.
The listing also said the candidates' skills and experience should "be balanced with a strong educational background."
The Windsor Police Service has been searching for a permanent replacement since Pam Mizuno retired at the end of March. Since then, Acting Police Chief Jason Bellaire has filled the post.
About 650 sworn and civilian staff work for Windsor Police, which has an annual operating budget of $95-million.
