Pair charged in alleged pistol-whipping incident

Windsor police say a man suffered a facial injury after another man allegedly hit him with a firearm earlier this week.

The incident took place Monday, Windsor police say. At around 1:45 p.m., officers were called to a report of a person in possession of a firearm near the area of Glengarry Avenue and University Avenue East. When police arrived, they located a man who suffered a facial injury.

Investigators learned that the suspect, another man, and the victim are roommates. Police say the suspect reportedly pointed a firearm at the man after a verbal argument ensued.

The suspect is then accused of striking the victim in the face with the firearm before taking off. Police say a woman was with the man during the incident. She reportedly threatened the victim and his girlfriend before fleeing the scene.

The man who was struck sustained a non-life threatening injury.

Police have since located both suspects, and the pair were arrested without incident. Police say the man had illicit drugs during his arrest. The firearm believed to have been used was not found.

As a result, a 28-year-old of no fixed address is charged with pointing a firearm, possessing a weapon for committing an offence, assault with a weapon, two counts of possession of a firearm while prohibited, breach of probation, failing to comply with a release order and possession of a controlled substance.

A 33-year-old woman of no fixed address, was charged with two counts of uttering threats.

The charges have not been proven in court.
