OPP seek 'person of interest' in fatal Leamington fire

Ontario Provincial Police would like to speak to someone identified as a person of interest connected to a fatal fire.

Officers from the Leamington OPP and crews from the Leamington Fire Department responded to a residence on Erie Street South shortly before midnight on July 8. One person was found deceased inside the burnt-out building. Their identity has not been confirmed.

Investigators have released a photo, taken from a security camera, of a man who may have information on what happened. Constable Steven Duguay said police would like to talk to him and have asked the public for help to identify him.

If you know who the person is, give the OPP a call at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Four people, including a youth, have been charged with interfering with police in the July 8 incident. Three of the suspects are also charged with breach of undertaking. All four of the accused have been released with court dates pending.

The OPP's Criminal Investigation Branch continues to work with the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office and the province's Chief Coroner's Office on this incident.
