Amherstburg woman says yes to Encore, wins $100K

An Amherstburg grandmother needed a double take to realize she was a lottery winner.

Marguerite Langlois added a $1 Encore bet to her Daily Grand ticket on June 27. She matched the last six Encore digits in order, winning the game's second prize of $100,000.

Langlois picked up her cheque last week at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. She said she couldn't believe it, and waited for the store to open for the day so she could get the numbers confirmed.

"I couldn’t talk, that was my first reaction," said Langlois. "I tried to call my husband, but the line was busy, so I called my son. I couldn’t wait to tell someone."

Langlois plans to share the winnings with her family but otherwise has no specific plans for the money. She bought her winning ticket at the Downtown Espresso Cafe in Amherstburg.

Encore is compatible with most of the draw-style lottery games and can be activated for an extra dollar.
