There has been an increase in opioid-related visits to the Emergency Department in the last week.
Between June 27 and July 3, Windsor Regional Hospital reported nine opioid overdoses, seven involving fentanyl. These values are higher than the two-year historical average for the region.
Another four incidents involving opioids were also reported by the hospital however these cases did not involve an overdose.
During the same time period, Essex Windsor EMS flagged 14 calls involving substance use.
