The TD Bank Group donated $100,000 to the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation.
The money will go toward building the clinical navigator program to help cancer patients find clinical trials.
"Cancer affects all of us in some form or fashion and unfortunately it's not an area that's decreasing it's increasing. With the help of technology, more people can be linked to clinical trials faster and that's really important," said Johanna Tedesco, district leader with TD Bank Group.
Dr. Caroline Hamm said it can be very difficult to find appropriate clinical trials throughout North America.
"The clinical trials system is a really complex system. There are multiple websites you can go to to try to find a clinical trial," said Dr. Hamm. " If you don't know what you are talking about, you don't even know if that is a good trial for me or is that not."
Dr. Hamm said clinical trials can be the best therapy available for patients and often give patients extra time.
"It's a big deal to patients to be able to know that they've done everything or they've done everything for their loved ones," said Dr. Hamm.
The clinical trial navigation system will take all necessary information and match patients with appropriate trials based on given criteria.
