Acknowledging the spread of COVID-19 has lessened in the community, Erie Shores Healthcare is changing some of its protocols.
Starting on Friday, it will move to a passive screening process where visitors will be asked to not come to the hospital if they have symptoms of the virus. Patients will need to alert staff.
The hospital is also amending its visitor policy. Patients in the inpatient units or intensive care will be permitted four designated caregivers. Those in the emergency department can have two designated caregivers and outpatients, just one. However, only one will be allowed at the patient's bedside at a time.
Volunteers return to Erie Shores Healthcare on Friday. They will be stationed at entrances to answer questions about the new visitor policy and screening process.
The hospital is not changing its personal protective equipment guidelines, so anyone who goes will still need to wear a medical face mask.
Windsor Regional Hospital announced earlier this week it would also loosen visitor guidelines.
