Discoloured water in south, central Windsor still safe to drink

People in south and central Windsor may notice a slight discolouration of their tap water Saturday.

The Windsor Utilities Commission (WUC), which owns the water treatment and distribution system serving customers in Windsor, Tecumseh and LaSalle, said the issue arose due to a fluctuation in water pressure in the distribution system around 7:30 a.m. near the JF Cook Reservoir in the south-end.

"As a result we are experiencing disturbed water in the south and central Windsor area. The water in these areas remains safe. Crews have been in the areas affected [Saturday] morning flushing the affected water from the system," WUC said in a statement.

Residents who experience discolouration in their tap water are advised to run the water in their home until it comes out clear.

The utilities commission expects the water issue will be completely resolved by Saturday evening and will post any additional updates to its website.
