Four Windsor roads appear on Worst Roads list

The good news is Windsor-Essex roads didn't crack the provincial top ten worst roads list.

The bad news is three of the worst roads in the Southwest Ontario region are in the city.

The Canadian Automobile Association releases its Worst Roads list annually to drive the conversation about the quality of roads drivers use daily to commute, and some make an appearance repeatedly. The public can pressure local politicians to invest in improvements along those roads.

The public votes on the roads they love to hate the most.

Steeles Avenue in Toronto has appeared four times since 2003. It didn't make the top ten this year.

The worst roads across Ontario are Barton Street East in Hamilton, Eglinton Avenue West in Toronto, and Barker Street in Prince Edward County.

The worst road in the Southwest Region, which includes Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, and Sarnia Lambton, is Plank Road in Sarnia.

Coming in second, third, fourth, and fifth are Lauzon Parkway, University Avenue West, Tecumseh Road East, and College Avenue in Windsor. Tecumseh Road East also placed in the top five in 2019 and 2018.

Past Windsor roads that made the top five include Seminole Street, College Avenue, and Huron Church Road.

*An earlier version of the story said three Windsor roads placed in the top five.  CAA had listed College Avenue in Sarnia as the fifth-worst in Southwest Region.  The listing was later updated.  This story has been adjusted to reflect the change.
