Unionized workers at the Pelee Island Ferry Service have a new contract.
All three bargaining units accepted an offer from Owen Sound Transportation, two unanimously.
Unifor Local 444 said, "the committee made improvements over parity in many areas reflecting a greater worth in our members."
The workers threatened to strike earlier this month in a dispute over wage parity with other workers with the company. They were set to walk off the job on May 20 to back their demands.
Then, the evening before the planned strike, Unifor Local 444 said it was making progress in talks with the employer and withdrew its strike notice.
A strike would have disrupted the summer tourism season on Pelee Island just as it began following the pandemic.
The union represents 75 workers in three bargaining units.
