Offending poster on offensive student dress removed at Windsor high school

A photo of a poster at a Windsor high school is getting a lot of attention on social media for all the wrong reasons.

The poster appears to advise female students on how to dress.

It reads, "Dressing inappropriately is like rolling around in manure; sure, you'll get attention, but mostly from pigs. Remember, no backs, no butts, no boobs, no bellies."

The Greater Essex County District School Board confirms it was posted in a classroom at Sandwich Secondary School.

"When this poster came to our attention," wrote Public Relations Officer Scott Scantlebury, " we deemed it inappropriate, and it was taken down."

The poster came to the attention of board officials on Tuesday.

"We are currently reviewing the board regulation for student dress and creating interim guidelines for school staff to ensure the application of appropriate student dress policies do not adversely affect any students," continued Scantlebury's email.

The board of trustees accepted a motion at its meeting on Tuesday night to develop a board-wide student dress policy.

Scantlebury anticipates a policy will be issued soon.

In the meantime, he said the board is "committed to safe, welcoming and inclusive schools that respect the dignity of all students."
