Windsor police say arrests have been made in connection with an incident at a Ford City elementary school.
Officers were called to Ford City Public School on Milloy Street Wednesday morning after getting what police described as a "trouble unknown" call. After conferring with the school administration, it was determined that a threat existed.
The Greater Essex County District School Board confirmed that the school was locked down for about 35 minutes. Windsor Police Constable Darius Goze reported that officers searched the building thoroughly before declaring it safe, and classes were allowed to continue. As a precaution, students were kept inside for the rest of the day.
Three young people were identified in the ensuing investigation. The youths were found around noon Wednesday and arrested without incident.
Each of them faces charges of uttering threats and public mischief. The suspects will not be identified under the Ontario Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Police and the school board have thanked the school's staff and students for their patience and understanding in resolving the matter peacefully.
