WAP workers increase donation to United Way Campaign by 11 per cent

Workers and retirees at Stellantis dug deep for the United Way campaign and managed to increase their annual donation by 11 per cent.

The combined contribution is $831,216.22 to support cradle to career community programs for children and youth living in priority neighbourhoods, West Windsor, downtown, and Leamington.

Those programs focus on improving academic success in elementary and high school by providing tutoring, mentoring, nutrition programs, mental wellness support, and support for parents and families.

It's the largest donation to the annual campaign.

"This generous donation will have a lasting impact in helping those most vulnerable in our community," said Stellantis Canada President and CEO Dave Buckingham.

The pandemic has had a disproportionate impact on families with low incomes. Cost-of-living increases on food, housing and transportation also impact children and youth.

This year, the United Way embarks on new solutions to improve mental health and reduce waitlists for those services by providing more support in the community with food programs and after-school programming.
