Lakeshore to begin processing paperless permits

Lakeshore is becoming the latest Windsor-Essex community to change the way it handles building permits.

Starting on Tuesday, the Municipality will no longer handle paper copies of permits, or accept hard copies of permit applications. Instead, residents will be asked to submit scanned and digital permit applications via an email address.

Lakeshore joins the Municipality of Leamington in streamlining its permit process, which Lakeshore hopes will reduce processing times and improve the overall experience for those requiring building permits.

Since Lakeshore straddles both the Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA) and the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority (LTVCA), the Municipality has reminded residents to check to see which area their building site falls in under before starting the permit process. A copy of the conservation authority's project approval may be required to submit along with the application.

Complete information on how to file a building permit application can be found on the Municipality's official website.
