Police were called to Wyandotte Street West near Crawford Avenue around 11:45 p.m. on Friday, March 25. Witnesses said the driver of a red 2014 Chevrolet Sonic struck a cyclist and continued down Janette Avenue. The cyclist, an adult man, was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He succumbed the following afternoon.

The woman appeared in a Windsor court Tuesday after additional charges were filed. The original arrest took place before the bicyclist died, according to Windsor Police Constable Talya Natyshak.

The 28-year-old Windsor woman is charged with impaired driving causing death, impaired driving causing death with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, and leaving the scene of a fatal crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
