Windsor Regional Hospital moves PUMA Clinic inside

The Paediatric Urgent Medical Assessment Clinic at Windsor Regional Hospital is moving.

On Monday, it will move to the third floor at the Met Campus and become the new pediatric outpatient unit, operating from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday.

When it opened last August, it was inside a temporary facility in the Emergency Department parking lot.

The number of patients has fallen dramatically since the start of March to just nine on average a day. However, the hospital recognizes its value as a non-emergency option for parents.

Parents still need to take their children to the emergency department if they have trouble breathing, are vomiting excessively, have lacerations or have broken bones. If they suffer from fever or chills, runny nose, cough, sore throat, headache, body aches, loss of taste or smell, belly or ear pain, they should bring them to the pediatric outpatient unit.

The hospital still recommends that they see a family doctor.

Appointments are necessary. Call 519-254-5577 ext. 55531 to book an appointment.

The COVID-19 Clinical Assessment Centre is still open for those 3-months and older at the Ouellette Campus for those who meet the criteria to get a molecular COVID-19 test. You can book an appointment by calling 519-973-4443.
