UPDATE: Caesars Windsor ratifies new agreement

Caesars Entertainment announced Sunday that employees voted in favour of the tentative agreement that was reached with Unifor Local 444 on Friday.

President of Caesars Entertainment, Kevin Laforet commended Unifor for bargaining a mutually beneficial deal for both sides.

"Our focus will continue to be on delivering great service as our business ramps back up and we continue to welcome back more of our valued guests," he said after the vote.

Local 444 reported Sunday afternoon that 93 per cent of its members said yes to the contract.

The union's 1,800 members were able to vote between the hours of 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. at the Caboto Club.

No details about the agreement have been released but wages and benefits were said to be key issues during negotiations.

The new deal will replace the existing agreement that is set to expire on April 2, 2022. It averts a work stoppage similar to one in 2018 that lasted two months.

Earlier this week, members voted 94 per cent in favour of striking.
