Firefighters were called to a multi-unit building on Pierre Avenue between Wyandotte Street East and Cataraqui Street Sunday.
No one was hurt, but firefighters rescued some cats from a third-floor unit.
Investigators call the fire electrical in nature and have listed it as accidental.
