The number of people with COVID-19 in Windsor-Essex hospitals has trended up slightly.
As of noon Friday, the region's three hospital systems reported a total of 47 patients with the virus. The number had been hovering in the 30s for much of this week.
Windsor Regional Hospital had 36 of those patients in its care, but only 19 were admitted because of COVID-19, while the rest were admitted for other reasons but have tested positive. Twenty-six of those people were fully vaccinated, with the rest either not or partially vaccinated. WRH had four patients in intensive care, with all but one fully vaccinated.
Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare had six COVID-19 patients as of Friday morning, with four fully vaccinated. At Erie Shores Healthcare, five people were being treated, but only two were admitted primarily for the virus.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reported 73 new cases Friday in high-risk settings. There were no new deaths Friday.
The number of active COVID-19 patients in the region dropped again below the 300-mark to 295.
Nineteen places are currently being monitored for outbreaks, with ten of them in long-term care facilities, seven in the community, and one each in a workplace and a hospital unit.
The latest vaccination figures showed that 86.1 per cent of all Windsor-Essex residents five and older have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, 82.5 per cent are doubly vaccinated, and 53.3 per cent of those 18 and older have received a booster.
