Another 200 long-term care beds will be added in the region over the next six years.
The Minister of Long-Term Care Paul Calandra announced the new beds along with funding to modernize another 504 beds.
“Our government has a plan to fix long-term care, and a key part of that plan is building modern, safe, and comfortable homes for our seniors,” said Calandra.
A new Banwell Gardens will be built close to the existing home. The new home will have 192 beds and replace the existing 142-bed home. Construction is expected to start this summer.
A new 192-bed facility will also be built by Berkshire Care Centre to replace the existing 231-bed home. Construction on the new home will start in the summer of 2023.
A new 160-bed home will be built in Windsor to replace the existing Regency Park Long-Term Care Home. Construction on this home isn't expected to start until the winter of 2023.
Finally, a new 160-bed home will be built in Amherstburg. The beds have been allocated to Chateau Park Long-term Care home which currently has a 59-bed facility in Windsor. Those beds will be moved to Amherstburg. Construction on the new facility will start in the fall of 2023.
