Tuesday morning fire in Windsor displaces one

A misplaced propane heater is the apparent cause of an early morning fire in Windsor.

Windsor Fire and Rescue crews were called shortly after 6 a.m. Tuesday to a home on Rankin Avenue near Vincent Massey Secondary School.

The fire was declared out by 8 a.m., and fire investigators remained on the scene to determine the cause and damage estimate.

The investigation determined that a propane heater, placed too close to combustibles, was the cause of the fire. The damage estimate was $700,000.

No one was injured in the fire, but one resident has been displaced.
