UPDATE: Police identify man pulled from Detroit River

The Windsor Police Service say they have identified a man who was pronounced deceased after being pulled from the Detroit River on the weekend.

Emergency crews were called to the area of Riverside Drive West and Bridge Avenue around 12:45 a.m. Sunday.

Police said officers and Windsor Fire and Rescue crews were able to pull the man to shore where he was treated by paramedics and transported to the hospital. The man was pronounced deceased a short time later.

At the time, the man's identity was unknown, though police described him as an Asian man in his 20s. Late Monday evening, investigators confirmed the man had been positively identified however, his family has asked that his name not be released.

While it is not known where the man entered the water, or how long he was in the water, police say foul play is not suspected.

Police are thanking the public for their assistance in the matter.
