Preparations underway for reopening

Local businesses and municipalities are starting to prepare for reopening after the Government of Ontario announced it would start easing public health measures starting January 31.

Caesars Windsor will reopen at 50 per cent capacity. This includes the gaming floor, table games, food and beverage outlets, and the Augustus hotel tower. The Colosseum will be staying closed initially.

“We are happy to reopen Caesars Windsor and welcome back our guests,” said Caesers Windsor President Kevin Laforet. “As we reopen, the health and safety of our guests and employees remain our top priority. We are optimistic for the future and look forward to providing an exciting entertainment experience.”

The City of Windsor is also preparing to reopen its recreational facilities. All nine ice pads at four arenas in the city will resume operations on January 31. Reservations and public skating times can be found on the city’s website.

The Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre Presented by WFCU Credit Union and WFCU Centre community pools will be re-opening for reserved fitness lanes, open adult and aqua fitness classes as of January 31, 2022.

Registration is now open for winter mini-sessions of the city’s usual recreational offerings. This includes tai chi, karate, floor hockey, and yoga. Sessions will start on February 7, 2022.

Windsor Public Libraries will remain open for contactless curbside pickup only. Limited computer access and photocopier access will also be allowed.

Museum Windsor will reopen the Chimczuk Museum and François Baby House to the public on Tuesday, February 1, 2022.
