The Ministry of Labour is investigating the death of a temporary foreign worker who was in quarantine before starting work on a local farm.
The Ministry was notified of the death on Monday.
The Ontario Provincial Police and a liaison officer from the Jamaican consulate were there when the Ministry conducted its onsite investigation. The coroner's office is investigating the cause of death.
On Thursday, the Windsor-Essex County Public Health Unit would not confirm the death, and of the nine fatalities it did report on Tuesday, all were over the age of 60.
The Ministry will not release any more information at this time, but confirmed the worker was from Jamaica.
Temporary foreign workers have to quarantine for two weeks when they arrive in Canada.
