Windsor Regional Hospital and Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare are following suit with Erie Shores Healthcare and reinstating a no visitor policy.
Starting on December 30, 2021, visitors will not be allowed at either campus with very limited exceptions.
Erie Shores Healthcare's no visitor policy comes into effect at the same time.
Those exceptions include palliative patients, pediatric patients, labouring patients, and patients who require support due to an underlying condition like dementia. In these cases, two essential visitors can be named, however only one essential visitor at a time may be present at the bedside within the allotted visitation period. Windsor Regional Hospital's full visitation policy can be found here.
Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare is also reinstating its Designated Care Partner program. The program creates a partnership with a patient's care team and a designated family member. For full details on the program and the current visitation policy click here.
Hospital officials state the decision was made to protect patients, families, and health care teams as COVID-19 transmission rates rise.
According to the hospital, there are currently high patient volumes caused by both non-COVID acute health issues, COVID-19 infections, recovered patients, and suspected COVID-19 patients.
As of 2 p.m. on December 28, Windsor Regional Hospital reported 12 patients in its care who have tested positive for COVID-19. Among those, four are receiving care in the intensive care unit.
