UPDATE: More WECDSB classes dismissed

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) confirmed more cases of COVID-19 at area schools on Sunday.

The health unit directed the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board (WECDSB) to dismiss the following:

• one class of students from W.J. Langlois Catholic Elementary School

• one class of students from St. Anne Catholic Elementary School

• two classes from F.J. Brennan Catholic High School

• one class and one bus cohort from Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School in LaSalle

•  one class of students from Stella Maris Catholic Elementary School in Amherstburg

* one class of students from St. Mary's Catholic Elementary School in Maidstone.

• two classes of students and one bus cohort from St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic High School in LaSalle

• two classes of students from St. Joseph's Catholic High School

"The health unit is contacting any individuals, both students, and staff, who may have been affected, and will give directions for them to follow." said the school board.

The affected students are to stay home from school and will be told by the health unit when they can return.

The WECDSB is currently tracking 40 confirmed cases.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
