The Ontario Provincial Police have awarded two men with the Commissioner's Citation for Lifesaving after they came to the aid of a cyclist in distress.
Deacon Ross and Carter Faust were honoured during a private presentation at the Essex County OPP Detachment last Friday.
Back in September 2020, two cyclists collided on a bike path on Ross Beach Road, just east of Belle River.
One cyclist only suffered minor injuries, but the other, an 80-year-old man, went into medical distress.
"It is a tremendous privilege to recognize people that have stepped up and responded to assist others during difficult circumstances," said Essex County OPP Detachment Commander Inspector Glenn Miller. "Our community is better off with individuals such as these."
Police never released the cyclist's name.
