Stormwater management and transit are among the hot topics identified in a recent survey taken by Tecumseh residents.
The town recently invited residents to participate in its online 2022 budget survey, which identifies areas that residents would like Tecumseh Town Council to address during upcoming budget deliberations.
As expected, the top priority among residents who answered the survey was stormwater management. Eighty-five per cent of respondents identified sewers, ponds, and pumping stations as the service they would most like to see enhanced in 2022.
The sanitary sewer system was the second-highest priority at 63 per cent, followed by trails at 49 per cent, road work at 48 per cent, and drainage in rural areas at 43 per cent.
If there was a service that residents wanted to cut, it was Tecumseh Transit. Twenty-two per cent of residents felt transit should have reduced spending, while less than 14 per cent wanted transit enhanced.
Respondents went off the board when it came to rodent control. While not listed as an issue, 27 per cent said rats and other pests were a problem that needed to be addressed.
Town councillors will review this information before releasing the 2022 draft budget on November 9, with the documents available for online viewing the following day. Council hopes to have the 2022 budget approved at its December 14 meeting.
There were 59 responses to the budget survey, down by 20 from the year before.
