A pair of cohorts from a Windsor Catholic high school has been sent home, after a confirmed COVID-19 case was discovered there.
The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board reported Thursday evening that two classes were dismissed from Catholic Central High School after the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reported one case of the virus.
Students from these two classes have been directed not to come to school Friday and stay home until the health unit clears them to return. All other classes should report as usual.
"We have been working with the health unit by providing lists of students and staff who may have been directly affected," said board spokesman Stephen Fields. "The health unit is contacting any individuals, both students and staff, who may have been affected, and will give directions for them to follow."
Parents are asked to continue self-screening their children each morning before sending them to school. If they have symptoms or feel ill, parents should keep them home and contact their health care provider for further instructions.
As of Thursday night, the board had a total of six student cases of the virus involving five buildings. St. Andre French Immersion in Tecumseh is the only one with more than one case. St. Joseph's Catholic High School in Windsor has no active cases but is still under the health unit's outbreak protocol.
At the Greater Essex County District School Board, two more cases were confirmed, a new one at Sandwich West Public School, and at the Giles Campus French Immersion School.
