Windsor-Essex public school board records four more COVID-19 cases

Several more schools within the local public school board have reported four new positive COVID-19 cases.

Late Monday evening, the Greater Essex County District School Board (GECDSB) confirmed the infections at four schools which include Coronation Public School, Harrow Public School, Vincent Massey High School and Prince Edward Public School.

The school board said it has partnered with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) to notify all staff along with the parents and guardians of students. Those who don't hear from the health unit can continue to attend school as usual.

"When notified of a confirmed case, the WECHU may direct students and staff to self-isolate and be tested," a statement from the board read. "They [WECHU] may also impose specific requirements or restrictions on students, classes and schools based on the unique circumstances of each case."

Since the school year started earlier this month, the GECDSB has recorded a total of 44 positive COVID-19 cases.

A full list of active cases within Windsor-Essex public schools can be found on the school board's website.
