The Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association is reassuring residents the Downtown Windsor Farmers' Market is a safe place to shop after the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reported an exposure to COVID-19 there last Saturday.
The health unit asks those at the market between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. on September 11 to monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and get tested if they show any.
The market is on Pelissier Street at Maiden Lane West.
The BIA issued a statement Thursday morning saying, "it remains committed to implementing and maintaining safety measures throughout the duration" of its operations.
"The safety and wellbeing of market visitors, vendors, volunteers, and staff is of paramount importance to the DWBIA and the farmers' market," read the statement.
Those safety measures include hand washing stations, non-touch lined waste disposal receptacles, mandatory masking and sanitizers at both entrances. There are also signs denoting physical distancing, and vendors are required to wear full personal protective equipment at all times.
"We are doing everything we can to protect our customers and vendors who are so essential at this time," said BIA Chair Brian Yeomans.
The market operates every Saturday morning through to December 13.
