Over the long weekend, Windsor-Essex recorded 304 new cases of COVID-19.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit released the update on Tuesday morning for the past four days.
On Saturday, the health unit said another 100 people tested positive for the virus. Sunday's total was 83. There were another 50 on Labour Day, and on Tuesday morning, public health officials said 71 test results came back positive.
There are 21 people in the hospital now. Windsor Regional Hospital says of the 17 being cared for there on Monday, nine are unvaccinated and one is partially vaccinated.
Of those 304 cases, public health officials are still investigating where 176 people were infected.
Seventy-two people are close contacts of other people who have already been included in the region's total caseload. The number of people who caught the virus in the community is 34. Eight cases are related to travel and 14 to an outbreak.
There are 16 workplaces experiencing an outbreak and two more outbreaks have been recorded in the community.
The higher case count boosted the number of active infections in Windsor-Essex to 616 by Tuesday morning, of which 347 involve a variant of concern.
Following the long weekend, the percentage of residents over the age of 12 who are now fully vaccinated increased to 73.3 per cent, while there are still 26,898 people who have had just one dose so far.
Ontario reported 564 new cases on Tuesday and three deaths related to the virus.
