Health unit takes vaccination to residents in Leamington and Windsor

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is taking COVID-19 shots on the road over the next few days with its "Destination Vaccination" program.

Nurses will be in Leamington Thursday at 33 Princess Street from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and then at Seacliffe Park from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

On Friday, they'll be Dieppe Gardens, the John Atkinson Memorial Centre, and Forest Glade Arena from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

As of Wednesday, the fully vaccinated rate in Windsor-Essex was just over 72 per cent, but to avoid another lockdown, the province's science advisory table said the percentage needs to be over 85 per cent across Ontario.

The mass vaccination clinic at Devonshire Mall remains open to walk-ins between 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Appointments can also be booked. Select pharmacies and healthcare providers are also offering vaccines.
