Several police vehicles struck during arrest

A Windsor man is facing several charges after he allegedly crashed into a number of Windsor police patrol vehicles on purpose.

Around 10 p.m. Sunday, police were called to Lauzon Parkway near Hawthorn Drive for a possible impaired driver who just left an establishment in a gold Chevrolet Equinox.

The Windsor Police Service says when officers responded they saw the vehicle driving erratically and driving fast. They tried to stop the vehicle around Lauzon Parkway and Quality Way but the driver took off.

Officers continued to make attempts to stop the vehicle. During that time, the involved vehicle struck multiple police vehicles while attempting to flee.

No officers were injured during the incident and the police vehicles sustained minor damage .

The vehicle was eventually stopped on Enterprise Way and the 39-year-old driver was arrested. He is facing charges of dangerous operation while evading police, impaired operation of a vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident and failing to provide a breath sample. The charges have not been proven in court.
