Amherstburg Acting CAO leaves for position with Town of Kingsville

After just four weeks on the job, the Town of Amherstburg's Acting CAO is leaving.

Town Solicitor Susan Hirota took over the duties of the Chief Administrative Officer after John Miceli was placed on leave earlier this month.

She will start a new job with the Town of Kingsville as its Director of Legal and Clerk Services. Her first day is August 30.

"Susan has an excellent and established reputation in various aspects of municipal law," said Kingsville CAO John Norton.

Director of Engineering and Public Works Antonietta Giofo now assumes the CAO's duties in Amherstburg.

"She has done the job in the past," said Amherstburg Mayor Aldo DiCarlo.

Miceli has been the CAO since 2014.

His leave started on the same day Ontario Provincial Police officers visited a number of town properties, but there is no confirmation he was under investigation.

DiCarlo issued a statement back on August 11 that read, "their attendance had nothing to do with any criminal activities on the part of any town employees."

He said the town was doing its "due diligence reviewing some issues that were brought to our attention."

DiCarlo said he hoped to issue a second statement within the next day or two, pending advice from the town's legal department.
