Around 2,000 students with the Greater Essex County District School Board have chosen to go to school virtually this year.
There are about 1,400 elementary school students enrolled in the virtual school. That's compared to around 8,800 who were enrolled in the virtual school last year. These students will be part of virtual classrooms with a dedicated teacher.
In the secondary school stream, there are 600 students who will be attending virtually this year.
Superintendent of Education Chris Mills says these students will be enrolled in a hybrid model, e-learning classes, or virtual classrooms depending on their course selections.
