There were an additional 77 cases of COVID-19 reported in Windsor-Essex over the weekend.
That brings the total number of active cases to 140. Of those, 52 involve a variant of concern. The active caseload has not been this high since the beginning of June.
Among the new case identified over the weekend, 24 people caught the virus in the community, 19 are close contacts of previously confirmed cases, and four cases are related to travel. The health unit continues to investigate 30 cases.
Local hospitals are treating two people who have tested positive for COVID-19.
To date, 76.7 per cent of eligible residents in Windsor-Essex have been partially vaccinated and 68.3 per cent have received both jabs. The province will not exit Stage 3 of the Roadmap to Reopening until all health units in the province have over 70 per cent of its eligible population fully vaccinated.
