Saying Leamington is "full of change-makers," Leamington has a new awards program to recognize those residents who make a difference.
The Municipality of Leamington is taking nominations for the Mayor's Recognition Awards in six categories, including volunteerism, athletics, outstanding youth, innovation, and community inspiration.
The winners in those five categories will be chosen by a committee. The winner of a sixth award, the Mayor's Special Award, will be picked by the mayor.
The awards are new, and the winners will be honoured at a special Council meeting in November.
The nomination period ends on September 15.
"I wanted to create an annual awards program that instills pride, encourages everyone to contribute, and acknowledges and thanks citizens for their meaningful contributions to our community," said MacDonald.
