WECHU reports two new cases

There are now 16 active cases of COVID-19 in Windsor-Essex.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reported two new cases on Wednesday. Among the new cases, one is community-acquired and one is a close contact of a confirmed case.

Among the active cases, three have been identified as involving a variant of concern.

Local hospitals continue to treat three patients who tested positive for the virus.

To date, 74.5 per cent of the eligible population has received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 61.2 per cent have been fully vaccinated. In total, 518,827 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the community.

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
