Two new COVID-19 cases in Windsor-Essex

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit reported two new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday morning.

One of the new cases is travel-related and the other is still under investigation.

There are now 15 active cases in the community. Of those, three involve a variant of concern.

Local hospitals are treating three patients who have tested positive for COVID-19.

The health unit has now removed a COVID-19 related death from the death toll in the community. Officials say COVID-19 was not associated with the fatal outcome of that case. There have been 435 deaths related to COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.

In total, 16,849 cases have been confirmed and 16,399 people have recovered.

To date, 76.4 per cent of adults have received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 63.9 per cent have been fully vaccinated.
