Windsor's Medical Officer of Health is urging residents to get their second vaccine dose as soon as they are able.
To date, 76 per cent of adults have received one dose of a vaccine, while only 61.8 per cent have received both doses.
"People may get the false impression that the cases are decreasing and the sense of urgency to get your vaccine may not be there as it was before," said Dr. Wajid Ahmed. "This is the time. You don't want to get vaccinated when the cases are already spreading. Then it's already too late."
He said getting a second dose is particularly important when considering COVID-19 variants.
"You need to be fully vaccinated to be protected from the Delta variant and also for any other type of variant," said Dr. Ahmed.
The COVID-19 case rate dropped again this week and is now 3.2 per 100,000 residents. The positivity rate also declined slightly, sitting at 0.6 per cent.
The weekly epidemiological study shows the majority of new cases are among residents aged 18-39, the age group with the lowest vaccine coverage rate among adults.
On Friday, the health unit reported two new cases of COVID-19 in the region. There are 21 active cases now, and six of them involve a variant of concern.
