Windsor Assembly Plant will be shut down the week of July 12 due to continued parts shortages.
Employees headed back to work this week but production was short-lived.
"Stellantis continues to work closely with our suppliers to mitigate the manufacturing impacts caused by the various supply chain issues facing our industry. Due to the unprecedented global microchip shortage, production at the Windsor (Ont.) Assembly Plant will be down the week of July 12," said Head of Communication LouAnn Gosselin.
The plant has been experiencing a parts shortage since the end of March.
"It's a week-to-week issue. It's very frustrating," said Unifor Local 444 President Dave Cassidy. "It's just so frustrating, you see people go back, they're getting into the rhythm, they are wanting to go back, they are wanting to put out the best product we've got. The dealerships don't have the product that needs to be there to be sold to the consumers. So it's very frustrating for us."
The Brampton Assembly Plant is also shut down the week of July 12.
Windsor Assembly Plant will also be closed the week of August 16 for annual retooling.
