Ontario Provincial Police have arrested a man and a woman following an investigation of suspicious behaviour in Lakeshore.
Officers from the Lakeshore detachment were called shortly after 9:30 a.m. Sunday to County Road 27 near Highway 401, and found a vehicle parked there. Upon speaking with the male driver, police learned that the female passenger was wanted on several counts by the Essex County OPP. Both people were arrested.
The investigation ultimately uncovered $130,000 in illicit drugs and property located within the vehicle, according to Constable Steven Duguay.
The 34-year-old male from Windsor has been charged with possession of opioids, methamphetamine, cocaine, and other drugs for trafficking; transporting a firearm, weapon or ammunition carelessly; possession of stolen property under $5,000; and occupying a motor vehicle knowingly containing a firearm.
The 31-year-old Windsor woman also faces the same charges, in addition to possession of a Schedule I substance, and failure to comply with a release order.
These charges have not been proven in court. Both suspects were held for a bailing at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in Windsor.
