We are well into summer, and the City of Windsor reminds residents that they can beat the heat at many places if they don't have access to air-conditioning.
With a heat warning in place for the region Monday and Tuesday, the city now offers its six outdoor swimming pools to provide relief from the heat. Under Step Two of the Ontario Roadmap to Reopen, outdoor pools may operate with capacity limits.
The outdoor pools are Atkinson, Central, Lanspeary, Mic Mac, Remington Booster, and Riverside Centennial. You can register at the city's official parks and recreation portal.
Branches of the Windsor Public Library are also open under Step Two. Nine branches are now open with summer hours, which can be found here.
Sandpoint Beach is open each day from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., weather and water quality permitting. Eight of Windsor's nine splash pads are also open except Remington Booster Park. Splash pad locations can be found on the city’s official website.
The city is also operating the H-4 day program at the Windsor Water World property from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day. The facility provides support for people experiencing homelessness.
