12 to 17-year-olds invited to pop-up vaccination clinics for first dose

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is holding a special vaccination clinic for teens aged 12 to 17 who have not yet received their first COVID-19 shot.

The clinic starts at 11 a.m. and wraps up an hour later. Parents will need to book an appointment and accompany their children if they are under 16.

It is at three different locations across the region. In Windsor, the clinic is at the WFCU Centre on McHugh Street. Leamington's clinic is at the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre, and in Amherstburg, it's at the Libro Credit Union Centre.

You can book an appointment through the online booking system or by calling 226-773-2200.

A driver's license, health card, student card, passport, or another form of identification is needed.

The health unit reported just three new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. One is under investigation, and two other people caught the virus either in the community or through close contact with a case public health officials are already tracking.

The number of active cases across the region has not changed from Monday. There are 59, of which six involve a variant of concern.

Meanwhile, the number of people in the region who are now fully vaccinated has topped 150,000. A total of 150,002 people have had both doses. Another 122,511 have had just one so far.
