Vaccines appointments now open for out-of-town first shots

If you got your first COVID-19 vaccine outside of Ontario, you can now book your second dose in Windsor-Essex.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit said Tuesday afternoon that anyone who got the first dose of a vaccine outside the province can now call and book an appointment at any of the mass vaccination sites in the region. This also covers those who got the first dose in the U.S. or another foreign country.

Residents who fall under this category are being asked to call the health unit directly so that they can be booked into the provincial appointment system. Patients should have ready their first-dose information, along with their Ontario health card or other government-issued ID.

The number to call is (519) 258-2146, ext. 1222.

The health unit also reminds residents that the call centre and online booking system are now available for anyone 12 and older needing the first dose from a Windsor-Essex vaccination site. Anyone eligible to get a second dose after getting the first dose in Ontario may also book a shot.
