Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island has launched a new online platform to help residents and tourists shop local this summer.
The W.E. Heart Local Digital Passport gives users an easy way to navigate the growing number of agri-tourism sites in the region.
“Our destination has a much-celebrated history with food. By having one of the longest growing seasons in Canada, we are truly blessed with a diverse offering of produce, alongside meat, honey, wine and beer” said Gordon Orr, CEO of Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island. “Every day, our farmers and producers provide authentic, tasty ingredients to locals and visitors alike. With the launch of our digital W.E. Heart Local digital passport, consumers can go on a unique journey through Windsor Essex, tasting the best of what we have to offer.”
The passport includes listings of over 70 farm stands as well as restaurants, brewers, and craft beverage producers that source their ingredients locally.
“Our vision to connect consumers and farmers has developed into a new and exciting digital format. This Passport gives all the details to plan a visit to the county and enjoy our plentiful products grown and produced locally," said President of the Essex County Federation of Agriculture Leo Guilbeault.
As part of the program residents can ‘check-in’ to each location they visit to receive special offers and incentives like recipes and W.E. Heart Local swag.
